Signs It Is Time To Change The Water Purifier Filter

Filters in the RO water purifiers are one of the most critical components of the device. They need to be changed periodically to ensure the delivery of consistently good quality water by your RO unit

Delaying to change the water purifier filters because you are not sure when to change, have either forgotten or too busy to change, will force you and your family members to drink unsafe water.

Look For These Signs

All the RO brands provide a specific timeline for the filter change, but this is just an indicative figure. How frequently or how soon you need to change your water filter will depend significantly on your usage and your family size.

You may be required to change sooner than the time prescribed by the brand, or if the usage is less, filter change could wait a little longer. Therefore, it is best to pay attention to the telltale signs that indicate you should change the filter in the water purifier.

The taste of the water changes

Change of water taste is the first thing you will notice. When the water passes through various filters, it is purified of certain harmful chemicals.

If the filters fail to do their job correctly, these chemicals will pass through the filter resulting in the change of water taste.

The filter’s effectiveness will start dwindling more rapidly from the time you notice a change in the taste of water. This is a gradual process, and only when the threshold level has crossed, you will start noticing the taste difference.

So delaying further will only make things worse because enough damage has already been caused.

An unpleasant odor from the water

The filters in your water purifier are also meant to filter out various odors inherent to the water in your area along with the other chemicals.

They also remove the odor caused by one or more forms of contamination. When the filter’s efficiency dwindles, these odors start surfacing. You should immediately stop using the water with an unpleasant odor.

Reduced delivery output water pressure

When the filters are clogged, the number of liters of water that it could process per minute will reduce. The level of clogging will also increase with time; the water output will also continue to decrease. The time taken to fill the storage tank will increase with the deterioration of the water filter.

Your unit delivers cloudy, unclear water

The water quality is determined by its transparency. Cloudy and unclear water is a clear sign of inadequate filtration.

Increased TDS level when you measure using a TDS gauge

If you happen to check the TDS level with a TDS gauge, you will notice a massive spike in the TDS value from the time the unit was installed or when the filter was replaced last.

Higher TDS level is an indication that harmful chemicals are not filtered effectively by your RO unit any longer.

Presence of visible particles in the water

In the worst cases, you would notice visible particles in the water. If this happens, then it indicates that you have waited for too long before the water filter is replaced.

Conclusion

Change the water filters in your RO system in a timely fashion. Delaying RO water filter replacements will put your family and you at a considerable health risk. All that it takes is a single phone call, and your RO brand will send their technicians to take care of the filter replacements.
